ADCYAP1 (Adenylate Cyclase Activating Polypeptide 1)
This protein stimulates adenylate cyclase activity via specific receptors, increasing intracellular cAMP levels. It functions as both a hypophysiotropic hormone and a neurotransmitter/neuromodulator, and also plays roles in paracrine and autocrine regulation of various cell types. The gene encodes three mature peptide forms, including two isotypes (short and long forms).
