Target Information
The DNAJA2 gene encodes a member of the evolutionarily conserved DNAJ/HSP40 family of proteins, which regulate molecular chaperone activity by stimulating ATPase activity. DNAJ proteins typically contain three domains:
- A conserved 70-amino acid J domain at the N-terminus
- A glycine/phenylalanine (G/F)-rich region
- A cysteine-rich domain with four motifs resembling a zinc finger domain
This protein functions as a cochaperone of Hsp70s, assisting in protein folding and mitochondrial protein import in vitro.
