This antibody detects endogenous levels of total RPS19 protein.
Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, composed of a small 40S and a large 60S subunit. The RPS19 gene encodes a protein component of the 40S subunit, belonging to the S19E family. Located in the cytoplasm, mutations in RPS19 cause Diamond-Blackfan anemia, characterized by reduced erythroid precursors. The gene may have extra-ribosomal functions in erythropoiesis and proliferation. Elevated expression levels have been observed in some primary colon carcinomas compared to normal tissues. Multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome.
