Target Information
This gene encodes two proteins:
- SART1 (nuclear form) expressed in proliferating cells.
- SART1 (cytosolic form) expressed in epithelial cancers.
The SART1 protein is translated via -1 frameshifting during posttranscriptional regulation. Both proteins are involved in proliferation control and possess tumor-rejection antigens. The SART1 antigen induces HLA-A2402-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cancer patients and may be useful for specific immunotherapy and diagnosis of atopy. It is essential for tri-snRNP recruitment to the pre-spliceosome during spliceosome assembly.
