Product Specific Information
- Specificity: MON R-4-02 does not cross-react with mouse uPAR, human uPA, human tPA, or human PAI-1 when tested by ELISA and immunoblotting.
- Reactivity: MON R-4-02 reacts with domain 3 in immunoprecipitation using proteolytic fragments of recombinant suPAR. Suitable for Western blotting of non-reduced proteins and as a detection antibody in ELISA applications.
- Note: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85–1.15 mg/mL.
Target Information
The urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) regulates cell-surface plasminogen activation and plays an important role in both normal and pathological processes. Human PLAUR cDNA encodes 335 amino acids, including a 22-residue signal peptide and a hydrophobic C-terminal portion. It produces a highly glycosylated ~50 kDa protein anchored to the plasma membrane via glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol linkage.
PLAUR (also known as UPAR) associates with the carbohydrate-binding domain of SELL in neutrophil membranes, analogous to its interaction with β2 integrins. PLAUR-mediated calcium mobilization is SELL-dependent. UPAR mRNA levels correlate with invasive potential and disease stage in endometrial carcinomas, showing a 33-fold increase in advanced tumors compared to normal tissue. UPAR protein expression correlates positively with recurrence and mortality rates, making it a useful prognostic marker for advanced endometrial cancer.
