This monoclonal antibody only very weakly detects human TLR2 in Ramos cell lysate and is not recommended for human sample testing.

Target Information

TLR2 is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, which plays a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLR proteins act through adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP to activate kinases and transcription factors including PKC alpha/beta and NF-kappa-B.
TLR2 can form heterodimers with TLR1 or TLR6 to recognize bacterial and mycoplasma lipoproteins. TLRs are highly conserved across species and share structural and functional similarities.
TLR2 is abundantly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes and mediates host response to Gram-positive bacteria and yeast via NF-kappaB activation. It recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and induces cytokine production necessary for effective immunity.
Expression of TLR2 varies among cell types and is regulated by immune modulators: LPS, GM-CSF, IL-1, and IL-10 upregulate TLR2, while IL-4, IFN-gamma, and TNF downregulate it in monocytes.
