Target Information
TMPRSS2 is a serine protease that contains a type II transmembrane domain, receptor class A domain, scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain, and protease domain. It is involved in various physiological and pathological processes. TMPRSS2 expression is up-regulated by androgenic hormones in prostate cancer cells and down-regulated in androgen-independent prostate cancer tissue. The protease domain is cleaved and secreted into the cell medium after autocleavage.
