Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family. It acts as a receptor for prostaglandin F2-alpha (PGF2-alpha), a potent luteolytic agent, and may play roles in modulating intraocular pressure and uterine smooth muscle contraction. Knockout studies in mice suggest PGF2-alpha interaction with this receptor initiates parturition in ovarian luteal cells and induces luteolysis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
