TRAF1 (TNF receptor associated factor 1) is a signal-transducing adapter protein, associated with the cytosolic domains of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family receptors. It consists of a conserved C-terminal domain that binds with the cytosolic tail of several TNF family cytokine receptors in downstream signaling pathways. It regulates the activity and signal transduction of a number of TNF receptor family members, such as CD40, CD30, TNF-R1, and TNF-R2.
