Gene: GPR4 (2828)
The gene GPR4 (G protein-coupled receptor 4) encodes a protein belonging to a novel subfamily of G protein-coupled receptors that are sensitive to lysolipids and protons. It is widely expressed in ovary, liver, lung, kidney, lymph node, placenta, skeletal muscle, and subthalamic nucleus. The gene is mapped to the critical myotonic dystrophy (DM) region on chromosome 19q13.3. The gene is found to be intronless and encodes a 362 amino acid protein. GPR4 has two isoforms of 2.8 and 1.8 kb that differ in their 3′ untranslated region.
