ZMYM6 (zinc finger, MYM-type 6) belongs to ZBED (zinc finger, BED-type) family of proteins, which function as regulatory proteins in vertebrates. This family of genes has a wide range of tissue expression. This protein contains the repeats of a zinc-binding motif (MYM). This family originates from histone acetyltransferases (hAT) transposons, and can be divided into active and buster transposon elements. ZMYM6 belongs to the buster family and is called buster2.
