Description
The SLC31A1 gene (solute carrier family 31, member 1), also known as CTR1, is predominantly expressed in the liver and kidney. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 9q32. Although the protein is mainly localized to the plasma membrane, in human carcinoma cell lines it is also observed within cytoplasmic vesicular compartments.
