Gene Information
The gene ARHGEF12 (Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 12) is mapped to human chromosome 11q23.3.
The protein contains:
- PDZ (PSD-95/Dlg/ZO-1) domain
- LH/RGS (regulator of G protein signaling) domain
- DH (Dbl homology) domain
- PH (pleckstrin homology) domain
It is highly expressed in glioma, gastric cancer, and intestinal cancer cell lines.
In MDCK (Madin-Darby canine kidney)-II epithelial cells, the protein localizes at the lateral membranes and in the cytoplasm.
ARHGEF12 co-localizes with α-tubulin at the spindle poles and during cytokinesis, it is present in the midbody.
ARHGEF12 is also known as LARG (Leukemia-associated RhoGEF).
