Anti-Estrogen-responsive B box protein, Anti-Tripartite motif-containing protein 16
The gene TRIM16 (tripartite motif containing 16) encodes a member of the TRIM family of proteins, which contain a RING (really interesting new gene) finger domain, one or two B-box domains, a coiled-coil domain and the more variable C-terminal domains. However, Trim16 lacks a RING domain, but contains two B-box domains. It is found to homodimerize via its coiled-coil domain. It may also heterodimerize with other TRIM family members. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 17p12.
