Platelet-activating factor receptor (PTAFR) gene is mapped to human chromosome 1p35.3.
PTAFR has seven transmembrane domains and is expressed in leukocytes, endothelial cells, and platelets on the plasma and nuclear membranes.
Among the two isoforms, isoform 1 is regulated by inflammation processes, while isoform 2 is predominantly expressed in kidney, lungs, spleen, and heart.
