The gene OTUD1 (OTU deubiquitinase 1) is mapped to human chromosome 10p12. The encoded protein has a ubiquitin-interacting motif at the carboxyl terminus. OTUD1 belongs to the DUB (deubiquitinating enzyme) family of proteins. DUBs are needed for removing covalently attached ubiquitin from proteins. OTUD1 might be involved in thyroid carcinogenesis.
