Anti-SLO2.1, Anti-KCa4.2, Anti-SLICK, Anti-potassium channel, subfamily T, member 2
Potassium sodium-activated channel subfamily T member 2 (KCNT2), also known as SLO2.1, is a Na+-activated K+ (KNa) channel. An elevation in [Na+]i activates this channel. It is composed of tetrameric complexes with each subunit having six transmembrane regions. KCNT2 is expressed in the heart and central nervous system. It belongs to the mammalian Slo potassium channel gene family. The protein indirectly responds to neuronal sensors and the gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 1q31.3. The protein may have a role in modulating the basal level of excitability of cells and may also contribute to their resting potentials.
