NEU3 sialidase, also called neuraminidase, is an enzyme located on the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane. It catalyzes the removal of sialic acids present on gangliosides, thereby facilitating cell-to-cell interactions.
The NEU3 sialidase gene is located on human chromosome 11q13.5 and encodes a protein consisting of 428 amino acids.
