Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs)는 대형 tyrosine kinase 성장인자 수용체 계열(17–38 kDa)에 속합니다. FGF family는 최소 17개의 멤버(FGF-1~FGF-17)로 구성되어 있으며, 각각 고친화성 FGF receptor(FGFR)에 결합합니다. FGFR-1과 FGFR-2의 용해성 또는 절단된 형태가 체액에서도 발견됩니다. 이들은 110–150 kDa의 당화된 단백질로, 두 개 또는 세 개의 immunoglobulin(Ig)-like domain을 가진 extracellular ligand-binding 영역, transmembrane 영역, 그리고 ligand 결합 및 receptor dimerization 후 활성화되는 cytoplasmic split tyrosine kinase domain으로 구성되어 있습니다. 모든 FGFR의 ligand 결합 부위는 extracellular Ig-like domain 2와 3에 위치합니다.
