It belongs to the MAGUK (membrane-associated guanylate kinase homologues) family of proteins.
MPP6 transcripts are strongly expressed in testis, brain, and kidney.
The protein contains PDZ, SH3, and GUK domains and is also known as VAM1 (veli-associated MAGUK 1).
