This vector has been engineered to allow the expression of a gene of interest in Saccharomyces cerevisiae using the strong yeast TEF-1 promoter and selection in the absence of leucine. The plasmid contains a gene that is essential for the production of leucine within yeast cells thereby allowing the growth of strains that are deficient in this gene to be grown in the absence of leucine. We also provide alternatives to leucine selection including plasmids for selection using histidine tryptophan and uracil synthesis. We also stock more standard selection yeast plasmids such as puromycin and blasticidin selection.

Promoter Expression Level: This plasmid contains the yeast translation elongation factor 1 promoter. It is the strongest promoter that we provide for expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
