Fibronectin (FN) is a glycoprotein containing 5–9% carbohydrates as N- and O-linked oligosaccharides.
It belongs to the ligand glycoprotein family and is localized to human chromosome 2q35.
FN exists as two major isoforms:
- Plasma-based soluble form
- Extracellular matrix (ECM)-based insoluble form
FN is a multidomain protein composed of FNI, FNII, and FNIII repeats, with fibrin-binding sites and dimeric structure.
Alternative splicing of the FN1 gene generates multiple isoforms.
Recombinant human fibronectin is expressed in human 293 cells, resulting in a glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 259.5 kDa.
Manufactured using an all-human expression system without serum, ensuring human-like glycosylation and folding for enhanced protein stability.
