Target Information
The DOK7 protein is essential for neuromuscular synaptogenesis. It functions in aneural activation of muscle-specific receptor kinase, required for postsynaptic differentiation and clustering of acetylcholine receptors in myotubes. It can induce autophosphorylation of muscle-specific receptor kinase. Mutations in DOK7 cause familial limb-girdle myasthenia autosomal recessive (congenital myasthenic syndrome type 1B). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
