PA1-4144 detects CD28 in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a ~27 kDa protein representing CD28 in CD4 cells.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues S(72) Q Q L Q V Y S K T G F N(85), the Ig-V-like region of human CD28.

Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein.
It belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
CD28 acts as a critical T cell costimulatory receptor, providing the second activation signal by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells.
It prevents T cells from entering an anergic or apoptotic state.
In murine lymphoid organs and blood, all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells express CD28.
Expression is highest in immature thymocytes (CD3-, CD8+, CD4+8+, CD4-8-) and lower in mature cells.
CD28 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
