This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HES6.
Target Information
HES family members form complexes with TLE, the mammalian homologue of Groucho, mediated by the carboxy terminal WRPW motif. The HES/TLE complex binds directly to DNA to regulate transcription.
Most HES proteins, such as HES1 and HES5, preferentially bind to the N box (CACNAG), while HES2 binds both N and E box sites. HES6 does not bind DNA but inhibits HES1 activity, promoting transcription.
HES1 and HES2 are expressed in various adult and embryonic tissues, HES3 in cerebellar Purkinje cells, HES5 in the nervous system, and HES6 in the brain and developing limb buds.
