Target Information
Transcription factor predominantly involved in transcriptional repression. Binds to promoter/enhancer response elements containing imperfect 5'-AGGTCA-3' repeats recognized by other nuclear hormone receptors. Modulates hormonal responses and represses transcriptional activity of several genes including LHCGR, REN, and OXT. Inhibits thyroid hormone receptor (THRB) binding to TREs, affecting triiodothyronine-dependent transcription. Also inhibits NFATC DNA binding, represses IL-17 expression in Th-17 cells, and may play a role in immune tolerance and autoimmunity. Involved in forebrain circadian clock development and locus coeruleus formation.
