Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the IMD (IRSp53/MIM homology domain) family. Members of this family are subdivided into IRSp53-like and MIM-like groups based on the presence of the SH3 domain.
The encoded protein contains a conserved IMD (F-actin bundling domain) at the N-terminus and a canonical SH3 domain near the C-terminus, classifying it as IRSp53-like.
It serves as a substrate for insulin receptor tyrosine kinase and binds to small GTPase Rac. This protein participates in signal transduction pathways linking plasma membrane deformation and actin cytoskeleton remodeling.
Overexpression promotes actin assembly and membrane protrusions in mammalian cells and is essential for forming a potent actin assembly complex during EHEC (Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli) pedestal formation.
