Target Information
The CPT1B gene encodes a member of the carnitine/choline acetyltransferase family, functioning as the rate-controlling enzyme in the long-chain fatty acid β-oxidation pathway within muscle mitochondria. It facilitates the transport of long-chain fatty acyl-CoAs from the cytoplasm into mitochondria. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified, including read-through transcripts expressed from the upstream locus.
