PAK1은 MAPK8 및 RELA 신호 전달 경로 조절에 관여하는 PAK kinase 패밀리의 구성원으로, CDC42와 같은 소형 GTPase가 N-말단 조절 도메인에 결합함으로써 활성화됩니다.
PAK1IP1은 PAK1의 N-말단에 결합하여 CDC42에 의한 PAK1의 특이적 활성화를 억제하며, 리보솜 대소단위 조립에도 관여할 수 있습니다 (PubMed:24120868).
