Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins (~50 isoforms) are classified based on sequence homology and antioxidant activity.
- Mammalian Prx includes six members: typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx.
- Prx VI belongs to the 1-Cys subgroup, while others have thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity.
- Molecular weight: 20–30 kDa
- Localization: Prx I, II, VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER/secretion; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
