Details
MUG EC Broth is recommended for the detection of Escherichia coli in water and food samples by a fluorogenic method. It is recommended by APHA for the analysis of drinking water, surface and ground water and waste-water for the presence of Escherichia coli. It permits rapid detection of E. coli when medium is observed for fluorescence using UV light, detects anaerogenic strains which may not be detected in conventional procedure, hydrolyzed by the enzyme β-glucuronidase possessed by Escherichia coli to yield a fluorescent end product 4-Methylumbelliferone.
