CD9는 4회 막을 관통하는 tetraspanin 계열 단백질로, 세포 활성화 및 응집, 세포 이동, 골파골세포형성, 신경돌기 성장, 근육세포 융합, 정자-난자 융합 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 관여합니다.
또한 CD9는 세포 부착 및 증식 조절에 중요한 역할을 하며, 암세포 이동성과 전이를 억제하는 종양 억제 인자로 알려져 있습니다.
