Target Information
This gene encodes a serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in cell division. Together with kinesin KIF14, it localizes to the central spindle and midbody to promote efficient cytokinesis. It also plays a role in central nervous system development.
Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with bipolar disorder and risk for schizophrenia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
