Target Information
CDKL5 serine/threonine kinase (STK9) is associated with X-linked infantile spasm syndrome (ISSX), also known as X-linked West syndrome and Rett syndrome (RTT). CDKL5 regulates nuclear speckle morphology by controlling the phosphorylation state of splicing regulatory proteins, and may indirectly influence pre-mRNA processing by modulating splicing factor dynamics. Mutations in CDKL5 are a major cause of infantile spasms and early epileptic seizures in female patients, as well as later intractable seizure disorders.
