세포 내 위치 (Cellular Localization)

• Isoform 1: Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, cell cortex, membrane (single-pass membrane protein), apical cell membrane, cytoplasm.
  Associates with cortical actin cytoskeleton and localizes to the apical region of cochlear hair cells. Colocalizes with podocalyxin at the apical cell membrane in renal glomeruli. May localize to the centrosome in lens epithelial cells. Exists both as soluble cytoplasmic and membrane protein with a probable single transmembrane domain.
• Isoform 2: Golgi apparatus, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center, centrosome. Colocalizes with AKAP9.

Background

This gene encodes a member of the chloride intracellular channel (CLIC) family of chloride ion channels. The encoded protein associates with actin-based cytoskeletal structures and may play a role in multiple processes including hair cell stereocilia formation, myoblast proliferation, and glomerular podocyte and endothelial cell maintenance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. (RefSeq, Dec 2011)
