세포 내 위치 (Cellular Localization)
Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasm; Cell projection; Growth cone; Tight junction; Adherens junction.
Both isoform 1 and 2 are recruited to the cell membrane through association with ARL4A, ARL4C, and ARL4D. Interaction with phosphoinositides is required for plasma membrane targeting (PubMed:17398095).
In differentiating neuroblastoma cells, colocalizes with CCDC120 in neurite shaft and growth cone areas.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the PSCD family, characterized by:
- N-terminal coiled-coil motif: involved in homodimerization
- Central Sec7 domain: provides guanine-nucleotide exchange protein (GEP) activity
- C-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain: interacts with phospholipids and mediates membrane association
Members of this family regulate protein sorting and membrane trafficking. The encoded protein exhibits GEP activity in vitro with ARF1, ARF3, and ARF6, and shares 83% homology with CYTH1. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
