Target Information
Mitochondrial acyltransferase that transfers an acyl group to the N-terminus of glycine and glutamine, though less efficiently. It conjugates numerous substrates to form various N-acylglycines, preferring benzoyl-CoA over phenylacetyl-CoA as acyl donors. This process detoxifies xenobiotics such as benzoic acid or salicylic acid and endogenous organic acids like isovaleric acid.
