BEST3는 Bestrophin family의 anion channel 단백질로, BEST1(유전성 황반이영양증 관련 유전자)과 구조적 유사성을 가집니다. BEST3를 포함한 Bestrophin 단백질들은 방향족 잔기가 풍부한 보존된 영역을 가지며, arg-phe-pro (RFP) 모티프를 포함합니다. 또한 8개의 RFP-TM 도메인 인코딩 엑손 구조가 유사하며, 각 유전자는 고유한 3' 말단을 가집니다.
