ALDH9A1은 aldehyde dehydrogenase 단백질 패밀리에 속하며, gamma-aminobutyraldehyde 및 기타 아미노 알데하이드의 산화에 높은 활성을 보입니다. 이 효소는 gamma-aminobutyraldehyde를 gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA)로 탈수소화하는 반응을 촉매합니다. 본 아이소자임은 동일한 54-kD 서브유닛 4개로 구성된 테트라머 형태를 가집니다.
