Target Information
TAS2R46 is a receptor involved in bitterness perception and gustducin-linked signaling. It may sense the chemical composition of gastrointestinal contents and stimulate alpha gustducin, mediate PLC-beta-2 activation, and gate TRPM5 channels. Expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue and exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. Individual taste cells can discriminate among bitter stimuli.
