Target Information
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the phospholipase A2 enzyme family, which hydrolyzes glycerophospholipids to produce free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. These act as precursors in the production of signaling molecules. The encoded protein is calcium-independent and membrane-bound. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
