Target Information
ZNF322 contains four exons and spans 23.2 kb in chromosome 6p22.1 region, transcribing a 2.7 kb mRNA that encodes a 402 amino acid protein.
Through northern blot analysis, ZNF322 was shown to be expressed in all human tissues examined at adult and embryonic stages (80 days to 24 weeks).
Overexpression in COS-7 cells revealed nuclear and cytoplasmic localization of ZNF322-EGFP fusion protein. Reporter gene assays indicate that ZNF322 acts as a transcriptional activator, enhancing SRE and AP-1 transcriptional activity.
These findings suggest ZNF322 is a zinc-finger transcription factor functioning as a positive regulator in MAPK-mediated gene transcription.
