Antibody detects endogenous levels of total RBM4.
Target Information
RNA-binding factor involved in multiple aspects of cellular processes such as alternative splicing of pre-mRNA and translation regulation.
It modulates alternative 5′-splice site and exon selection, and acts as a muscle cell differentiation-promoting factor.
RBM4 activates exon skipping of PTB pre-mRNA during muscle cell differentiation and antagonizes PTBP1 activity to regulate muscle-specific exon selection of alpha-tropomyosin.
It binds to intronic pyrimidine-rich sequences of TPM1 and MAPT pre-mRNAs and is required for translational activation of PER1 mRNA in response to the circadian clock.
RBM4 binds directly to the 3′-UTR of PER1 mRNA and suppresses Cap-dependent translation by binding to CU-rich elements, particularly under stress or during myocyte differentiation.
It recruits EIF4A1 to stimulate IRES-dependent translation initiation under stress and associates with internal ribosome entry segments (IRES) of target mRNAs.
RBM4 also plays a role in miRNA-guided RNA cleavage and translation suppression by promoting AGO2–miRNP association with target mRNAs, and binds preferentially to the 5′-CGCGCG[GCA]-3′ motif in vitro.
