Target Information
Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes capable of lysing certain tumor and virus-infected cells without prior activation. They regulate humoral and cell-mediated immunity and express several calcium-dependent (C-type) lectins involved in NK cell function. The NKG2 gene encodes a type II transmembrane protein with a C-type lectin domain, located within the NK complex containing multiple NK-specific lectin genes.
