Target Information
C1orf55 (also known as SDE2) is involved in DNA replication and cell cycle control. Unprocessed SDE2 interacts with PCNA via its PIP-box, preventing monoubiquitination of PCNA and inhibiting translesion DNA synthesis. This interaction leads to processing of SDE2 by a deubiquitinating enzyme, producing mature SDE2 that is degraded by the DCX(DTL) complex in a cell cycle- and DNA damage-dependent manner. Binding of SDE2 to PCNA is necessary to counteract ultraviolet light-induced replication stress, and complete degradation of SDE2 is required for S-phase progression. [UniProt]
