Product Specific Information
In Western blots, no cross-reactivity with recombinant human Integrin beta 1, beta 2, beta 3, beta 5, beta 6, beta 8, or recombinant mouse Integrin beta 4 is observed.
Target Information
Integrins are heterodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein receptors composed of alpha and beta subunits. Different alpha/beta combinations determine ligand-binding specificity and mediate cell-matrix or cell-cell adhesion, influencing gene expression and cell growth.
The integrin beta 4 subunit forms a receptor for laminins, typically pairing with the alpha 6 subunit, and plays a key role in invasive carcinoma biology. Mutations in this gene are associated with epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoforms are known.
