Product Specific Information
- For IHC on PFA-fixed tissues: incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease of the kallikrein family produced by prostate epithelial cells and abundant in seminal fluid. It is detectable in the serum of patients with prostatic carcinoma, predominantly complexed with alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT). A higher proportion of PSA-ACT complex is observed in prostate cancer compared to benign prostatic hyperplasia. PSA is used to confirm prostatic acinar cell origin in primary and metastatic carcinoma and to distinguish it from non-prostatic carcinoma mimics.
