RGS14는 G-단백질 신호 조절(Regulator of G-protein signaling) 패밀리의 구성원으로, 하나의 RGS 도메인, 두 개의 Raf-like Ras-binding 도메인(RBD), 하나의 GoLoco 도메인을 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 활성화된 GTP 결합 Gα 서브유닛에 결합하여 GTP를 GDP로 전환시키는 GTPase 활성화 단백질(GAP)로 작용함으로써 신호 전달을 억제합니다.
RGS14는 또한 미세소관 중합 및 방추체 조직화의 양성 조절자로 작용하며, 세포 분열, 신경 성장 인자(NGF) 매개 신경돌기 성장, 스트레스 저항성에 관여합니다.
