Target Information
The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCE (PKC epsilon), is activated by intracellular signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified, differing in structure, tissue distribution, localization, and substrate specificity. Conventional PKC isoforms (alpha, beta I, beta II, gamma) are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent. PKC enzymes phosphorylate diverse protein targets, participate in multiple signaling pathways, and act as receptors for tumor-promoting phorbol esters. Each PKC isoform exhibits distinct cellular expression and function.
