This antibody has specificity for Human Aromatase/CYP19A1.
Target Information
The CYP19A1 gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These monooxygenases catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. Aromatase localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and catalyzes the final steps of estrogen biosynthesis through three successive hydroxylations of the A ring of androgens. Mutations in this gene can lead to altered aromatase activity, affecting estrogen-related phenotypes. Two transcript variants are known.
